AK PARTY CONVENTION IN ISTANBUL

AK Party’s Fourth Istanbul Ordinary Congress was held in Turk Telekom Arena with the theme of “We stayed united, we stood together, we became Turkey together.”

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, along with his spouse Emine Erdogan, entered Turk Telekom Arena with demonstrations of love and applause of the party members who showed a great interest in the congress. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s speech in which he stated that they made Turkey grow threefold in nine and a half years and turned Turkey into a regional power was greeted with loud applause.

Deputy Prime Ministers Bulent Arinc and Bekir Bozdag, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu, Minister of Customs and Trade Hayati Yazici, Minister of Interior Idris Naim Sahin, Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay, Minister of National Education Omer Dincer, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yildirim, Minister of Environment and Urban Planning Erdogan Bayraktar, Minister of Forestry and Water Works Veysel Eroglu, AK Party Vice-Chairmen Ekrem Erdem, Huseyin Tanriverdi and Abdulkadir Aksu, Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Kadir Topbas and his spouse Ozleyis Topbas and some deputies attended the congress. Ministers of State from Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia also guested at the congress.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, in his remarks on the subject, said “There is only one party in Turkey which can achieve this. Thank God we are a member of that party too. We are a party which was born in the conscience of the nation and which moves forward with the nation. We crowd the stadiums and also the squares.”

At the congress, AK Party Istanbul Province Chairman Aziz Babuscu stood for elections once again as the sole candidate.
