BAGIS MEETS WITH THE MEMBERS OF BUDGETS COMMITTE

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis hosted the Members of Budgets Committee of the European Parliament.

During the meeting held in Ministry for European Union Affairs, expectations and demands with regard to the state and course of negotiation chapters were expressed to the Members of Budgets Committee who have an influential role in determining the political and economic policies of EU.

Recalling that Turkey had overcome a graver crisis, Bagis said “Turkey-EU relations are of strategic importance to us. Although no chapter was opened during last three terms, we are carrying out reforms within the country better when compared before.” Giving some information about the arrangements on minorities made in the last few years Bagis underlined that they introduced many arrangements   aiming at enhancing the life quality of the citizens. Bagis requested from the Members of the Committee to consider the population of Turkey, which is 75 million, while formulating the budget of Financial Instrument for Pre-Accession.
