BAYKAL CAN TOO BE PROUD IF HE FORCES HIMSELF
AK Party Vice Chairman and Foreign Relations Chairman Egemen Bagis gave a speech in a meeting titled "Turkey's Foreign Politics Vision," which was organized by AK Party Mugla Provincial Chairmanship on Sunday May 4, 2008.
Following his Bodrum visit Bagis attended to "Turkey's Foreign Politics Vision," conference in Mugla and said that in order to understand Turkey's success in foreign politics, one should first take a look at its domestic politics. Bagis stated that the average per capita income has tripled in the last six years, IMF debt has dropped to 6,9 billion4$ from 23,5 billion$ and at the moment the amount in the reserves of the Central Bank is 10 times more than the IMF debt. "30 billion$ has been received in the last six years from privatization, however the amount in the reserves of the Central Bank is 2,5 times more than this amount," said Bagis, answering those who claim that all these have been achieved solely through privatization.
The situation in Cyprus has become advantageous for Turkey without withdrawing a single soldier or sacrificing a bit of territory, said Bagis. The world has started to understand that Turkey is right, he added. Bagis said Turkey has become a center of peace in its territory and recently Israel and Syria have asked help for a solution of the Golan Heights issue for which the two countries are at daggers drawn. They said "If Mr. Erdogan accepts to act as the peacemaker we may sit on the negotiation table," stated Bagis.
Egemen Bagis said some of the Prime Ministers of the previous governments didn't visited Ataturk's house though they went to Thessalonica. They make children to summarize that Ataturk ran after the crows in his uncle's farm when he was 7, but they don't teach that in 1930 he warned one day the Soviets will collapse as well.
Bagis stated that they will come over every single problem with AK Party's mission of love, brotherhood and peace. "As I always say Mr. Baykal can also be proud if he forces himself a little bit, but he is not willing to do so. Mr. Baykal cannot handle the fact that Turkey has come to this point, because he always choose fear, paranoia and to scare people to achieve things. This fear politics is not something new. But ease your minds, we will overcome with all problems not by provoking tension and fear but with AK Party's mission of love, brotherhood and peace," he said.
