    “EU DIGITAL AGENDA AND TURKEY” CONFERENCE

    “European Union Digital Agenda and Turkey” Conference was held in Istanbul Culture and Convention Center with the participation of the Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis.

    Minister Bagis delivered an opening speech at the conference and said that 16 million students in Turkey would have tablet computers progressively within 3 years.

    Reminding that the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) had provided free course books until today and that from now on they would provide tablet computers instead of course books, Egemen Bagis indicated that the students would be able to follow their lessons by means of the tablet computers and at the end of the day the lessons thought by their teachers on smart board would be downloaded on their computers.

    Stating that Turkey today was a prominent country in comparison with the other countries in the region, Minister Bagis said that Turkey had reached a very different position by growing more than % 8 in the last 5 years, but they would not satisfy with the current situation and would do better.

    Minister Bagis indicated that they would like to provide the most advanced computer of the century to Turkey and he said that the name of this computer was a brand new civil constitution 2012. Minister Bagis, Pointing out that a constitution which would embrace all of the citizens and which would be owned by everybody was required to become the main software of Turkey, said “we care about the EU standards also within this framework.”
