EGEMEN BAGIS SPEAKS IN THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Delivering a speech at the conference titled as “Developments in the Arab World and Turkey” organized by the Economic Development Foundation and Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association in the European Parliament, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis claimed that EU had to play an active role in the peace of Middle East. 

Bagis stressed that it was very significant to discuss the new breeze in the Arab world in the capital of Europe and indicated that they supported the effort of the public will to come to power.

While criticizing Assad regime in Syria, Bagis stated “It is the human blood that is being shed. This violence is acceptable nowhere in the world. The international community has to make an effort to cooperate with Turkey for ending this violence. Syrian people are not alone. We are related to them. We feel their pain. We give great importance to the help of the international community. Some countries are insensitive to Syria. I am speaking to the conscience of the world in the European Parliament.”

Minister Bagis touched on Palestine issue and said “Unless the Palestine problem is solved, the Arab Spring may be the winter of someone else. We do not have problems with the Jews. The current Israeli government leads to a disturbance in the region. We still keep the thought of maintaining peace in the region by means of mutual dialogue.”
