TURKEY AND AK PARTY ARE DETERMINED TO STRUGGLE WITH PKK
AK Party Vice-Chairman Egemen Bagis made the below statement about an interview that was published on a national newspaper on the 4th of March 2008:
On one of our national newspapers' 4th March, 2008 edition, there has been claims which left an impression as if there were a contact and dialog between terrorist organization PKK and AK Party, which are totally inaccurate and deviant.
Judical records of the owner of these claims is questionable. The newspaper has overstated an implication between the lines and used as headline. And to use this claim without without straining and proving is the deficiency of this press agency.
We can say that the owner of the claim got in touch with the terrorist organization or its supporters and asked for their opinion.
While we do not accept any person, domestic and foreign actor who do not recognize PKK as a terrorist organization as our interlocutor, it is a delirium and hallucination to claim that the government and AK Party is in touch with that organization.
It is unforgivable to show and imply our party as a respondent to the terrorist organization. Turkey and AK Party are decisive to struggle with terror in the political, military, social and economic areas.
The person who says these expressions, either make propaganda for PKK intentionally or transferring the mission of himself to the public opinion carelessly. If you look at his words, he said "I think AK Party agrees with these ideas". He thinks… This is delusion, imagination, not a sign of a healthy frame of mind.
AK Party does not need any suggestion from third parties related to Iraq. In this subject, Iraqi delegation which is composed of all groups sometimes came to Turkey. They met with many ministers, including foreign affairs. As a party, we also listened to them. We told them to send away PKK from Northern Iraq and have respect to Turkey. We also informed the public about these contacts. Any attributes meaning beyond this intent can only be explained with ill- will.
