WE WILL ENCOURAGE THE FRENCH TO CORRECT THIS MISTAKE

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the Sisli district congress of AK Party held in Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall. Mentioning the Armenian Draft Bill which passed through the French Parliament, Bagis stated that French people were quite uncomfortable with the decision too. 

Egemen Bagıs said:

“Leading newspapers in France published editorials and pointed out that the law was against the founding principles of the Republic of France. French politicians made different statements on this issue. Ghazali has a valuable quote, ‘Don’t argue with ignorant people, I’ve never won against them.’

Rather than arguing with ignorant people, we will win the hearts of French People and carry on to encourage them to take the necessary steps in order to correct this mistake.”

Speaking about Denmark’s decision on Roj TV Bagıs said: “Roj TV case is on appeal. We hope the jurisdiction of Denmark will come to the right decision.”

Bagis continued as follows:

“The supreme broadcasting board in Denmark also should take the necessary steps being conscious of the court’s message. For the Danish jurisdiction concluded that ‘PKK is a terrorist organization.’ The court indicated that Roj Tv was financed by PKK and the Supreme Board but not the court was competent to shut down the channel. The court asked the Board to do what is needed. I dare. Since we are NATO allies and if Denmark considers Turkey as a friend, then Denmark’s institutions should do the right thing immediately. As they know clearly that if Sırnak is not safe, Copenhagen or Brussels cannot be safe. Berlin wouldn’t be safe unless Diyarbakir is safe.

Today everyone accepts that international cooperation is necessary in the fight against terrorism. Since PKK is on your list of terrorist organisations, then do what is necessary. As Turkey, we will be the follower of the issue.”
