THE CLAIM OF CHP IS NOT TRUE
Releasing a written statement, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis expressed that, the removal of 19. Ayah of Al-i İmran Sura from the Friday Prayer Sermon, which was put forward by a deputy from CHP, was totally false and he added that this confused the public.
Minister Bagis referred to the following in his press statement:
“These claims which were put forward on various occasions were made intentionally and it is observed that CHP contributes to these efforts.
Our citizens will remember clearly how such efforts of CHP remained inconclusive. Today, we once more witness how remote CHP is from the values of the citizens and how insincere they are in terms of getting closer to these values.
We would expect from those who comply with our beliefs to face the implementations of the CHP by questioning the history of their political parties instead of being an instrument to these intentional campaigns.
It has been explained to the public opinion by the EU Commission and the Presidency of Religious Affairs that these claims were false.
The Presidency of Religious Affairs gave the detailed information about the issue through the Press and Public Relations Advisor. Stefan Fule, EU Commissioner responsible for Enlargement, confuted these claims through his press secretary. Fule, referring to the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, expressed that the EU would not interfere with religious beliefs and also said that the EU was trying to guarantee the freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
The bringing forth of these claims by CHP is nothing but slander against AK Party by those who do not come up with any project for the peace and prosperity of the citizens.
But, the Turkish citizens can distinguish between right and wrong and can observe who works for their prosperity and well being. Although we sincerely hope from the main opposition party to become integrated with the values of the Turkish citizens, we do not expect such a tendency from them.”
