WE CAN HEAL RACISM WITH THE UNDERSTANDING OF YUNUS EMRE AND MEVLANA
In the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting organized in Brussels, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Bagis reacted Barry Madlener, the Dutch Representative, who wanted to present him a framed copy of a cartoon at issue in Turkey. Bagis said that they were ready to heal racism with the understanding of Mevlana: “Come, whoever you are, come” and Yunus Emre: “We love the creature, because of the Creator"
Extreme Rightist Dutch Representative Madlener, known with his sharp attitude towards Islam and Turkish people wanted to give JPC Co-Chairman, Afif Demirkiran a cartoon, depicting a group of believers in a mosque praying before a wall on which the notice: “there is no religion” is shown with red arrows and a man at the back row talking to God: ‘Can I be excused from the last part of the pray. I have things to do. Thanks.’
As Madlener stood up and walked towards the stage to give the cartoon, Bagis told not to take the cartoon.
Regarding this, Bagis said: “Unfortunately, there are people in Europe who are suffering from the disease of racism. I want to emphasize here that we are ready to heal them with the understanding of Mevlana: “Come, whoever you are, come” and Yunus Emre: “We love the creature, because of The Creator".
European Co-chairman Helene Flautre said to Madlener: “Thank you Mr. Madlener. We have witnessed your attempts aiming at media before. You make use of us for your personal propaganda. In fact this is the scandal.”
