FAREWELL TO HRANT DINK

Hrant Dink (1954-2006)

Hrant Dink's murder is a treacherous attack to smear Turkey in the international arena. It is an attack by the dark forces in an attempt to reverse Turkey's steps towards stability, democracy, human rights and European Union process.

It is a hideous attack to hinder our government's raising international profile in law, democracy and peace and further, an attempt to interrupt our efforts to achieve harmony of civilizations.

We've witnessed where terror, murder, mass public outrages attempted to interrupt democracy process in Turkey. We've witnessed elected governments worn out and pervaded by terror. We've lived an attack on the high Court, Danistay. There too, disgraceful messages were tried to be given. Turkey's constitutional institutions were targeted.

The attacks are targeted on those who want the good and the prosperity of Turkey. The captured pawns, however, do not even know how much damage they are causing Turkey.

These murderers are trying to return the country to the old unstable, chaotic days. Unfortunately we may have martyrs along this road. However, as long as the stability in Turkey continues, we will not give in from our reform process and these powers will not be able to accomplish their goals.

I give my sincere condolences to Hrant Dink's family and loved ones.
