MINISTER BAGIS EXPLAINS TURKEY'S EU BID IN SERBIA-EU SUMMIT
After attending the 1st Serbia-EU Summit in Serbia, Belgrade titled: "Overcoming the crisis, moving towards the European Union", Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis delivered a speech at the panel themed: "Enlargement Policy of the EU and the Lessons Learned".
In his speech, Bagis underlined the relations between Turkey and the Balkan States, and he also mentioned the importance of the EU's enlargement policy and Turkey's possible contributions to the European Union.
At the Summit which was realized by the attendance of approximately 400 participants including ministers, intellectuals and journalists from EU Member States and Southeast European Countries, Bagis declared that Turkey was the 6th biggest economy of Europe and he said, "While dealing with the obstacles with respect to the European Union process regarding Turkey, we also made the reforms. Today's Turkey is better than yesterday's Turkey and Tomorrow's Turkey will be better than today's".
Minister for EU Affairs, Bagis privately met Serbian Defence Minister Dragan Şutanovac; Foreign Minister Vuk Yeremiç; Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Celic; and Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Macedonia, and then he departed from Serbia.
