BAGIS CALLS FOR UNITY AND SOLIDARITY AT THE IFTAR DINNER HELD IN DARULACEZ

Stating that Turkey had fulfilled the obligations of being a big country, Minister Bagis said, "Since we can say 'amen' together with the Alevis, Sunnis, Muslims, Christians, Jews, easterners, westerners, Turks, Kurds, Circassians, Laz, Bosnians, Zazas, Albanians living in the Republic of Turkey as equally treated citizens, since each and every one of us has a seat on this table, everyone of us always has a place on the lands of Turkey. At this point, the important thing is trying to be able to enrich the table instead of attempting to break the peace."

Explaining that they considered those living in Darülaceze as the members of their family, Minister Bagis indicated that the real meaning of Ramadan is to be able to empathize with others.

Minister Bagis noted that Yusuf Cetin, the patriarch of the Assyrian Church had handed out the aid they collected for Somalia from the Assyrian community in order to be delivered to the Prime Minister. Bagis said, "This is one of the values typical of Turkey."

At the end of his speech, Bagis indicated that the beds in Darülaceze had been worn-out and that the elderly who were at the risk of falling, were in need of orthopedic beds. Bagis called everyone who can afford, to undertake the furnishing of a room. Minister Bagis stated that together with himself, Ajda Pekkan, Ibrahim Kutluay, Demet Şener, the head of Turkish Wrestling Federation, the chief rabbi Isak Haleva also undertook the furnishing of a room in Darulaceze.

Representatives of different faith groups, artists, technical committee and the wrestlers of Turkish national wrestling team have attended the dinner.

After the iftar, Mr. Bagis gave a speech and thanked the district organizations for their performance during the elections and he also stated that he was proud that the party organizations were in close cooperation with establishments like Darulaceze.
