INTERNAL COORDINATION AND HARMONIZATION COMMITTEE CONVENES

The 9th Meeting of Internal Coordination and Harmonization Committee (IKUK), chaired by Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, was held at the Secretariat General for EU Affairs in Ankara with the participation of EU Permanent Contact Persons from 67 public institutions and organizations.

During the meeting, current situation in the EU accession negotiations and the work which are currently being carried out and planned for the coming period within the framework of "EU Strategy for Turkey's Accession Process" were addressed.

In his speech during the meeting, Bagis noted that the people of politics have common objectives in terms of the EU and thanked to the MPs from the governing party and opposition parties and bureaucrats, as well. Bagis said that all the institutions in Turkey continued to work together with the same determination although an election would be held twelve days later.

Bagis stated that they should take steps for the coming generations rather than the elections. He said: The important thing for us is not the European countries but the European principles".
