WE COURAGEOUSLY ADDRESSED TURKEY'S CHRONIC PROBLEMS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that AK Party had laid hands on the issues that no one could dare to handle and courageously clamped down on gangs.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the programme "Konusulmayanlar" on Channel A Haber and answered the questions of Canan Barlas.

Answering a question about how the problem of deep state would be solved, Bagis said that during its governing period AK Party had laid hands on the issues that no one could dare to handle and courageously clamped down on gangs. Bagis added that in addition to their deeds they had targets to be achieved with respect to that issue.

Stating that in order to solve the problems of Turkey which had become chronic, some people had to take responsibility, Minister Bagis said that no opposition party could accuse them for being lazy.

Bagis continued as follows: "People of this country know that there is a state owned TV channel broadcasting in Kurdish language today but 10 years before they were even scared of using the word "Kurdish". For the first time after Ataturk a president in this country visited a cemevi (Alawite temple) and a prime minister shared the dinner of his Alawite citizens in Muharram month. There is a government in Turkey which embraces its 20 thousand Roman citizens and declares housing projects for them while Sarkozy expel the Romans."

Indicating that they had handled the issues which could not be touched by anyone until now, Bagis said that no one could even express their wish to renaturalize Nazim Hikmet and leftist parties which assume that they are social democrats had to declare May 1 as holiday.
