Attending the publicity meeting of the campaign which was initiated by the Secretariat General for EU Affairs in cooperation with Microsoft Advertising, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that the mottos expressing the concrete contributions of the European Union to our daily lives would appear on Windows Live Messenger, which is one of the best known social media.
At the meeting which was held in Ortakoy Office of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs, Bagis said that they prepared the European Union Communication Strategy (EUCS) at the beginning of 2010 and started implementing it. Indicating that they opened the Facebook page of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs in November, Bagis touched upon the importance of the social media. Bagis added that he also shared developments relating to his domestic or foreign activities and contacts both at his Twitter address and Facebook page.
Noting that their objective was to reach 32 million internet users, 14 million personal computers and 7 million ADSL users in Turkey which is the 7th country spending the most time on the Internet, Bagis said, "Around 28 million 'Windows Live Messenger' users in our country will be informed about the mottos prepared by the Secretariat General for EU Affairs expressing the concrete contributions of the EU to our daily lives."
At the meeting, Minister for EU Affairs Bagis had a talk with Nursen Numanoglu, Turkey's Deputy Permanent Representative before the EU in Brussels via video conferencing.
