TURKEY CAN SEE ITS FUTURE NOW

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Directorate of Forest Management building to be constructed in Sile and said that Turkey was a country which is able to determine its long term strategies.

Stating that he hoped to raise our children in a different Sile, different Istanbul and a different Turkey, Bagis said that 10 years ago there had been a Turkey which wouldn't even be able to see the forthcoming 12 hours however today Turkey was making its plans and determining a strategy for 12 years later, for the year 2023 which is the anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey.

Indicating that for the first time in the history of the EU the title of "the capital of sports" was given to a city of a country which is not a member of the EU due to its performance within the framework of Capital of Culture activities, Bagis said that they were considering what could be done in Sile in this regard and Sile was a very convenient place for golf, a sports branch which has become more popular in Turkey recently. Bagis stated that if a standard tourist leaved 50 Euros, a golf tourist would leave 50 Euros to the country.

Egemen Bagis said that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made important efforts for the development of Sile and continued: "I believe that we will make new developments together with you after June 12. We already made our plans with the Mayor to construct a golf field which would hopefully be perfect in every way. I promised him to carry out the contacts with the relevant institutions in Ankara."

In addition to these, Bagis indicated that the Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay had prepared a very important draft law in order to ensure that films concerning our own history are shot in our country and that draft law had been sent to the parliament after its approval by the council of ministers. Bagis continued as follows: "I hope that draft law would be adopted after June 12 and maybe Sile would be the Hollywood of Turkey. Because whatever necessary such as forests, sea, a dynamic manpower and all other opportunities are available" in Sile.
