TURGUT OZAL CULTURE CENTRE OPENS
The opening ceremony of Turgut Ozal Culture Centre which was built by Cekmekoy Municipality of Istanbul was held with the participations of Semra Ozal, wife of the late Turgut Ozal, the eighth President of Turkey, and Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis.
In his speech at the ceremony, Bagis reminded that Istanbul which was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2010 would be European Sports Capital in 2012. Bagis said: "Now, both Istanbul and our country are getting more prestigious with new awards and new roles, so Turkey's fortune and destination are clear thanks to Justice and Development Party.
Stating that he had been commemorating the late Turgut Ozal with gratitude once more, Bagis mentioned that Ozal who took over the management of Turkey where fears and tensions were felt everywhere stood upright against the status quos courageously, honestly and bravely with the help of the nation and God.
Pointing out that Ozal revitalized the vision introduced by the late Adnan Menderes, Bagis said: "Thanks to the vision of the late Ozal, the nation put Tayyip Erdogan who comes from the heart of Anatolia into power in 2002 against the status quos which then started to grow stronger again".
