Delivered to the national, regional and local televisions and radio channels including a letter written by the Chief Negotiator and Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis and prepared by the Secretariat General for EU Affairs, radio- television info-spots to reply to the question of "Why do we want to be a member of the European Union?" were started to be broadcast.
Within the framework of the European Union Communication Strategy, 11 info-spots replying a commonly asked question of "What would happen even if Turkey were a member of the EU?"aim to inform our citizens about the tangible effects of the membership on our daily lives in various aspects, such as women's rights, environment, social rights and food safety.
The info- spots, which explain the acquisitions of different target groups during the EU process, refer to the fact that the education and training opportunities in the EU states will be higher, food safety of the consumers both in their fields and at their tables will be ensured and Turkish will be one of the official languages of the EU.
Moreover, 30 info-spots lasting for 13 seconds each and titled as "Why the EU?"will make clear the acquisitions of Turkey in terms of political, social, cultural and economic aspects. Thus, it is aimed to increase the level of social sensitivity and awareness.
These info-spots aiming to explain the positive effects of Turkey's EU membership to the Turkish people in a more comprehensible manner have been considered as "for the public interest" by the Radio and Television Supreme Council.
