WRONG TO BOYCOTT

Paying official visits to Siirt, in his speech he delivered during his visit to Kurtalan Province Presidency of AK Party, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis criticised people who are making a call for boycott to the referendum.

Indicating that saying "yes" to the constitutional package will pave the way for Turkey, Bagis said " We will say ‘Yes' on 12 September for living humanly with all ethnic origins in Turkey. We will say ‘Yes' for establishing the Ombudsman Institution in this country on 12 September. The Ombudsman is a new and independent institution that citizens can apply in case of a problem with the state and can solve their problems. This system likes the office of chief kadi in Ottoman. Our citizens will no more have difficulties in the courts for years. We will take a step all together for turning Turkey into a country at the EU standards."

Noting that in Turkey on 12 September they would make the judicial system more transparent, Bagis said these:

"We will provide that soldiers can tried by civilian courts. We will put an end to being tried civilians in the military courts. Saying ‘yes' to this constitutional amendment package means to pave the way for Turkey. Saying ‘no' to this constitutional amendment package or don't go to the polls by boycotting will lead to unidentified murders, torture and blacklisting in this country. It means that we don't want democracy and human rights. For this reason people who are making a call for boycott to this amendment package are those who don't believe in democracy, and who exploit people. If this package is passed no party will win, Turkey will win. If it is not passed, no party will lose. But Turkey will lose much. For this reason, we will behave logically. We will say ‘yes' all together for strengthening Turkey's democracy and increasing the life standards of Turkish people.
