    THE REFERENDUM IS AS IMPORTANT AS OPENING CHAPTERS WITH EU

    Expressing that Turkey could not be an EU member with the current coup constitution, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis emphasized the importance of constitutional amendment package for democratization, development and EU accession process and he wanted the support of citizens for referendum.

    As a part of Mardin Visit, Bagis met with the mayor M. Besir Ayanoglu and gathered with the representative of nongovernmental organizations and citizens. Bagis attended the Iftar dinner in the Ramadan tent that was placed in the old building of general directorate of public education in the city centre.

    Afterwards, Visiting the local artisans and giving information to them about the constitutional amendment package, Bagis wanted the citizens to read the text of constitution and vote "yes" or "no" by consulting their conscience.

    Bagis visited the municipality of Mardin and took briefing from Mayor Besir Ayanoglu about the general situation and the works of municipality.
