    WE PROVIDED JEAN MONNET SCHOLARSHIP

    Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that 95 young people had been awarded with scholarships as a part of Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme.
    In his written statement concerning the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme for 2010-2011 Academic Years, Bagis indicated that the accomplishment of the social transformation to be experienced upon the adoption of EU legislation would be possible once the employees in different sectors adopted the EU legislation and its norms.
    Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme, coming out as an important opportunity in that concept and formed by an agreement which was concluded between Turkey and the European Commission in 1989, was one of the most dynamic and colorful dimensions of the relations between Turkey and the EU.
    Pointing out that the Jean Monnet Scholarships providing the opportunity of training for Turkish young people in the EU member states was a very special programme which aimed to train experts in the issues related with the EU from every sect of the society, Bagis said that about 1,180 individuals had been awarded with scholarships within the scope of that programme for 20 years, ranging from public servants to the representatives of private sector, from university students to the academicians and from the representatives of non-governmental organizations to the employees in the local administration.
