FEDERATION OF TURKISH AMERICAN ASSOCIATIONS VISIT THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

A delegation from the Federation of Turkish American Associations (FTAA) visited the Grand National Assembly in preparation for the 25th Turkish Day Parade and Turkish Week to take place this May in New York.

Former FTAA President Egemen Bagis hosted a lunch at the Assembly's marble Hall in their honor. Making a short opening statement before the lunch, Bagis reminded that he and his wife, Beyhan, had lived long years in the US, therefore described this lunch as a "family reunion ".

Reminding that the FTAA is an exemplary institution and that this year is its 50th anniversary; Bagis further noted he was the youngest and only president to be elected unanimously for two consecutive terms.

Noting the importance of the Turkish Day Parade organized every year, Bagis stated: "This activity is the most important activity of Turkey abroad. It reflects Turkey and Turkish people in all aspects and therefore should be organized in other foreign countries as well. This activity should be supported."

FTAA President Atilla Pak thanked Bagis for the continued support he has been giving from Turkey.

FTAA Honorary Chairman Dr. Ata Erim said that they were proud to have sent Bagis to Turkey as a Parliamentarian and noted that his work was followed by the Turkish community in US with growing interest. Dr. Erim further stated that the Turkish Day Parade in New York should set an example to other communities in other countries.
