DETERMINED TO FIGHT TERRORISM AND CONTINUE DEMOCRATIZATION AT THE SAME TIME

In his speech at the AK Party Consultative Assembly Meeting in Antalya, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said "In dealing with terrorism, Turkey will neither give up military struggle nor democratization which is the most important aspect of fight against terrorism."

Mentioning the acts of terrorism in his speech, Bagis said "We are determined to treat the terrorists as they deserve and we are resolved to bring democratic standards for our people."

Bagis continued his speech as follows:

"We will not mix these issues; we will distinguish them. We will do whatever necessary to ensure the fair treatment of all our people as equal citizens regardless of their ethnic identity, religious belief or political view."

Stating that there were some circles feeling uneasy over the development, transparency and democratization ensured during the ruling of AK Party, Bagis said "Their efforts are in vain. Our people will not give up democracy."

Indicating that those trying to obstruct the continuation of Turkey's development would be disappointed, Bagis said AK Party derived its strength from its nation and organization.
