EP CONDEMNS ISRAEL OVER GAZA CONVOY RAID

Upon EP's condemnation against Israel's military operation on the Gaza convoy carrying humanitarian aid, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis evaluated the resolution as "a decision of commonsense and conscience."

In his written statement Bagis pointed out that since the attack appeared as "the violation of international law", this resolution of the Parliament and the bid to establish an immediate and impartial international commission was very important.

Egemen Bagis added the following:

"Now we are expecpting the European Union to suit its historical mission and implement this resolution and demand an immediate independent and impartial international commission, mobilizing the international society in line with its resolution. The European Union has the necessary opportunities and potential to undertake a historical role for the solution of Israel-Palestine conflict and to ensure the improvement of living conditions in Gaza, abolishing the blockage.

Stating that the EU's establishing its own commission to inquire the attack against Gaza convoy would be a good example of sincerity, Bagis said the values represented by the EU were the most solid and real framework of the desire to live together in a peaceful manner throughout the world.

Bagis pointed out the fact that it was necessary for the EU to put forward its mechanisms on the Israel-Palestine conflict and to make efforts for the adoption of a European approach in the solution of this conflict in order to adopt these values in a larger scale.
