TURKEY WILL BE A MEMBER OF EU WITH HER STRENGTH

Attending as a guest to Mehmet Soysal's program "Bas Basa", broadcasted on TGRT news channel, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis answered the questions about Turkey's EU negotiation process.

Expressing that some members of the EU claimed that Turkey was "too big, poor and Muslim" and tried to put obstacles into Turkey's way, Bagis added that in the relationship process between Turkey and EU for 51 years, Europeans knew the language, culture and religion of Turkey well. Stating that they did not want all those matters to be put forward as if they were obstacles against Turkey, Bagis said "Turkey no longer wants to hear friendship speeches. We want platforms to discuss full membership date, anyway."

Emphasizing that EU was in an economic depression, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Bagis stated "I do not consider the risk of diffusion of EU realistic. There are economic troubles and a crisis. Which crisis lasts forever? EU will overcome these in a couple of years."
