BAGIS MEETS CARFAGNA, ITALIAN MINISTER FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and Italian Minister for Equal Opportunity Maria Rosaria Carfagna came together in a meeting which was held at the Istanbul Office of Secretariat General for EU Affairs in Ortakoy.

Reminding the continuous support of Italy to Turkey concerning the EU process, Bagis thanked to the Italian government for this support.

Referring to the scheduled meeting of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan with his Italian counterpart Silvio Berlusconi in Rome on Wednesday, Bagis said that Turkey attached high importance to that meeting with Italy that has been one of the great supporter of Turkey on the EU process.

Carfagna said Turkey and Italy had great efforts on the issue of women's rights and also emphasized that the issue of women's right was a significant element concerning democratization of a country.

Stating that Italy extended support to Turkey in every sense, Carfanga noted that its support would continue particularly in the EU process and also added that they would be very glad to host Prime Minister Erdogan and Minister Bagis in Rome.
