20TH REFORM MONITORING GROUP MEETING WAS HELD IN KONYA
The 20th meeting of the Reform Monitoring Group hosted by Ahmet Davutoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs was held in Konya, with the participation of Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator; and Besir Atalay, Minister of Interior.
In the 20th Reform Monitoring Group meeting, the progress achieved during the EU membership process in terms of political criteria was evaluated and the priority works necessary to be carried out in the forthcoming period were discussed.
The Reform Monitoring Group whose first meeting was held on 18 September 2003 monitors the comprehensive works on legislation in the fields of democracy, rule of law, fundamental rights and freedoms and the effective implementation of the legislation in these fields.
At the joint press conference held within the framework of the 20th Meeting of the Reform Monitoring Group, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis expressed his pleasure for holding this meeting in Konya, and he said that Konya was among the cities benefiting from the EU funds most effectively and greatly.
Noting that works related to new reform package were continuing, Bagis said that the mentioned package would be communicated to the Parliament until the 21th Meeting of the Reform Monitoring Group.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu said that the 21th meeting of the Reform Monitoring Group would be held in Erzurum on the 4th and 5th of June.
