BRYANT: "WE ARE TRYING TO PERSUADE THE EU THAT TURKEY'S MEMBERSHIP WOULD ALSO BE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE EU"
Minister for the EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis accompanied Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his visit to London and came together with the Minister of State for Europe Chris Bryant there.
Bagis, in the meeting said that Turkey in the end would be one of the most respected members of the EU.
Bagis thanked Bryant for their support they provided in the EU accession negotiations, and referring to the Environment Chapter, he said that they wanted to make use of the experiences of the UK in the field of environment. Bagis stated that the UK was a supporter of Turkey's EU membership and they had many things to do together.
Stating that that they were pleased to welcome the Turkish delegation in London, the British Minister of State for Europe Chris Bryant said they were trying to persuade all the allies in the EU that Turkey's membership would not be only for the benefit of Turkey but also for the benefit of the EU."
