"OUR LARGE POPULATION WILL BE COMPENSATED BY ACTIVATING GREAT PRODUCTION POWER"
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis made a statement about the expression of Javier Solana, the former EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, who said that the problem in Turkey's EU accession process was not the Muslim population but the size of the population in Turkey.
Stating that they will compensate the population size by activating the great producing power Bagis said: "If that population works at full capacity, no one should fear. But if wanders around aimlessly, it frightens everyone."
During a conference held in Barcelona (Spain), Solana had talked about Turkey's EU membership and said that Turkey's Muslim population was not a problem but the problem was the size of Turkey's population.
