BAGIS: "INTERNATIONAL VISITS ARE IMPORTANT FOR THE ACCESSION NEGOTIATIONS PROCESS"
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis met Roland Koch, the Prime Minister of the German State Hessen in the Secretariat General for EU Affairs.
After the meeting, Bagis stated that Turkey-Germany relations were at a good level, every year approximately 4 million German citizens spent their holiday in Turkey and 3 million Turkish people lived in Germany.
Indicating that the trading volume between two countries was approaching 20 billion dollars, Bagis said neither Germany nor Turkey could ignore the other. Bagis described the visit of Koch as a fruitful one and pointed out the importance of such visits in Turkey's EU accession negotiations. German Ambassador to Turkey Eckart Cunts also attended the meeting.
