THE LOGO OF SECRETARIAT GENERAL FOR EU AFFAIRS HAS BEEN ALTERED
The Coordination Meeting with the EU Permanent Contact Points was held at the EUSG. Delivering a speech at the opening of the meeting, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said, the logo of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs was altered and with the new logo, they wanted to emphasis the fact that the EU accession would be a blending process.
Stating that the EU process was one of the high priority issues for Turkey, Bagis said "I believe, especially today, during which Turkey's tendency is being discussed, it is really important to show that Turkey and all its institutions are locked onto the same target." Bagis said that the state, together with all its institutions, adopted the most important modernization project of Turkey since the foundation of the Republic.
Stating that they held the meeting with a strengthened staff, Bagis introduced his colleagues.
Indicating that the logo used as from the foundation of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs in 2000 haven't satisfy them, Bagis reminded that the EU flag had a dark blue base with golden stars on it and that in the former logo of EUSG, the Turkish star and crescent looked as if they were added to those stars afterwards and that this issue irritated them. Bagis said "We wanted to emphasis Turkey's sensitivity, the contributions it would bring to the EU and the fact that the process would be incorporation unifying one" and added that they hoped the new logo to bring enthusiasm to the EU process.
