"NEITHER THE PAST NOR THE FUTURE OF EUROPE CAN BE WITHOUT TURKEY"

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the reception hosted by Joan Clos Matheu, the Spanish Ambassador to Ankara, on the occasion of Spanish National Day at the Sheraton Hotel.

In his speech here, Bagis reiterated Turkey's determination in the EU accession process and said "Neither the past nor the future of Europe can be without Turkey." Bagis and Ambassador Mathetu exchanged messages of friendship for Turkish-Spanish relations.

Stating that Turkey was a strategic partner, an important ally and a future member of the EU, Ambassador Mathetu said that Spain's term presidency to be started in January of the next year would be a good opportunity to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.

The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Lluis Maria de Puig, the Chairman of the PACE Turkish Delegation Mevlut Cavusoglu and many representatives of foreign missions attended the reception.
