FAREWELL RECEPTION IN HONOUR OF DEMIRALP AND ARISAN

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis gave a reception in honour of Ambassador Oguz Demiralp, Secretary General for EU Affairs and Nilgun Arisan, Director of National Programme, who completed their assignment at the Secretariat General for EU Affairs.

In the speech he delivered at the reception in Ankara Kavaklidere Tennis Club, Bagis thanked Demiralp and Arisan for the strong support they gave in the EU process.

Noting that it was not an easy process to defend the EU and to exert every effort so that the EU standards were adopted by Turkey, Bagis stated that in that context, efforts put by Demiralp and Arisan to turn Turkey into a country at world standards were of great importance.

Demiralp stated in his speech that the appointment of Bagis as the Chief Negotiator was a very positive step and pointed that it brought more dynamism and visibility to the EU process.

Stating that the enactment of the European Union General Secretariat act would contribute to the EU process, Demiralp said the European Union General Secretariat was the most important driving institution in that process. Demiralp added that the EU process was sure to succeed.
