"THE MORE THE INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS EXPAND THE MORE ECONOMIC POWER OF PEOPLE INCREASES"

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said "We see that in all nations which have attained the democratic standards and countries which have aimed true democracy, the wealth level of the citizens also increases."

In his speech after the iftar meal held by AK Party Besiktas District Organization at the Yıldız Park, Tent Pavilion, Bagis indicated that he very well remembered November 2002, the date when they came to power and that 7 years had passed since, but the time had not been wasted.

Stating they achieved successes that would make every member of the party proud, Bagis said they had the opportunity to contribute to the services of the preceding governments in every field including transportation, economy, foreign and domestic policy.

Bagis indicated that they had overcome the inflation monster everyone believed to be unbeatable and started the EU negotiations and that a Turkish person undertook the position of Secretariat General of the Organization Islamic Conference for the first time and added "Turkey has been elected to the United Nations Security Council after a period of 47 years. Per capita income has risen to more than 10 thousand dollars. Public institutions are overhauled and are increased in number. We achieved to change all the international balances in Cyprus without the withdrawal of a single soldier and without an inch of land to be given. We achieved this just by making proper and timely use of politics. Thank God, we are no more considered as the party causing the deadlock."

Stating that they were aware of the fact that they should also deal with other chronic problems of Turkey, Bagis continued his speech as follows:

"We will, with everyone's contribution, raise Turkey's democratic standards in order to end hostility among brothers, cease mother's tears and let no one be anxious about losing their democratic rights. We will raise our economic, cultural and social standards in the meantime. We see that in all nations which have attained the democratic standards and countries which have aimed real democracy, the wealth level of the citizens also increases. Thus, the more the individual rights expand the more economic power of people increases. However, repressive regimes and repressive mindsets leave behind in poverty not only the people but also the societies and the countries. We undertake the problems of anyone whose democratic rights are being restricted. I believe it's time to solve everyone's problems altogether and to realize that there is no use in turning a blind eye to other people's problems. If there is a security problem in this country, then it is our common problem. We can only solve these problems together.
