Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator

AK Party Vice Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Egemen Bagis is appointed as Minister of State.

In a written statement made by the Press Center of Prime Ministry, it is announced that Egemen Bagis is appointed as Minister of State and "Chief-negotiator" for the full membership negotiations with European Union officials.

In his statement, Bagis mentioned that "It's a great honor to take over the responsibility of Turkey's EU membership negotiations, which Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan classified as the most important modernization project after the declaration of the Republic". Bagis underlined: "I will try my best to deserve the trust of our Prime Minister." 

Believing in the importance of this project for Turkey, Bagis indicated that he will need support from every citizen in Republic of Turkey and Turkey's Euoropean allies. He added that he will do his best for the philosophy of "no stopping, keep moving ahead", in the interest of a more modern, more democratic, and more prosperous Turkey.

  Aiming to serve his country, Bagis continues as a minister to adopt the principles of "Strength in Unity" and "Unity in Tolerance" as the basis of all his endeavors.
