Minister for EU affairs and chief negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that he had declared his support with a written message to the fifth rally held by the Young Turks Society under the title "Stop Armenian Lies and Commemoration of Our Martyred Diplomats" in New York's Times Square in USA.
Bagis's message was read in the opening of the program by the president of the Young Turks Society.
In his message Bagis said: "I congratulate the rally held to commemorate our martyred diplomats, to struggle against Armenian lies and to stop the allegations of so-called Armenian genocide. I am honoured to say that I used to be among the organisers and a part of these rallies held in here, in various parts of USA, in New York or Times Square. It is a great pleasure for me to see that the young to whom I handed over the responsibilities after being a representative, continue to accomplish the tasks."
In the message he also stressed:
"After my assignment as a Minister for EU affairs and a chief negotiator for the process of Turkey's accession to EU, I have not been cut off from the Turkish society, my friends and my brothers in America. On the contrary, with your support beside me, I continue to defend Turkey in another issue that we are facing injustice. By means of this rally that is the best indicator of our unity and solidarity, I greet you and wish the continuation of your success."
