The Minsk Mosque in Belarus was opened with a ceremony with the attendance of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who made a day-long visit to Belarus as a part of his official contacts, opened the Minsk Mosque in the state capital along with the Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. Opening ceremony was held with the attendance of President of the Religious Affairs Professor. Dr. Mehmet Görmez, former minister of the EU Egemen Bağış, several ministers and numerous religious representatives from the Eurasian region, where the President Erdogan made a speech.
The Minsk Mosque, which was destroyed 54 years ago in the Belarusian capital Minsk, was rebuilt with the contributions of Turkey. In 2014, the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Religious Foundation of Turkey undertook the construction of the mosque which was started but not completed before. The completion cost of the mosque has totaled about 7 million dollars.
