Egemen Bağış, on his route to the Grand Bazaar to assess the problems of the tradesmen said "As far as I can tell this Bazaar, a keepsake from our ancestors, has serious troubles. I feel that we can overcome these difficulties by preparing a collective solutions package".
Touring the Bazaar with AK Party Province Board of Directors member Mr. İbrahim Yildirim and Grand Bazaar Tradesmen Association president Mr. Hasan Fırat, Bagis listened to the problems of the tradesmen and even climbed to the roof of the bazaar in the process. Explaining that Istanbul has been declared the '2010 Culture Capital of Europe' noted that the Grand Bazaar is the oldest mall and should be prepared for the year 2010 as it deserves.
Following the visit Bagis shared his opinions with Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas, AK Party Istanbul Province Chairman Mehmet Muezzinoglu, Union of Turkish Chambers of Commerces and Stock Exchanges (TOBB) President Rıfat Hisarciklioglu and Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) President Murat Yalcintas.
